Ellie Lawrence was a contestant on Season 9 of The Voice, being part of Team Gwen.
Ellie impressed the coaches in the Blind Auditions with her indie cover of "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off", where it was clear that she was a huge Gwen Stefani fan and fully intended to pick her as her coach. Her audition was also very successful with the viewers, peaking at #56 in the iTunes Charts, an impressive feat for an audition. She then won her battle against Tim Atlas and advanced to the Knockouts round, where she was paired against Braiden Sunshine and struggled to perform due to having a crisis of laryngitis around the time of the performance. Her performance of "Cool For the Summer" was not her best, and she was eliminated after Gwen chose Braiden to move on, saddening the coaches and viewers, who knew of her potential.
However, the introduction of the Coach Comeback twist allowed each coach to bring one previously eliminated artist back to join the Live Playoffs as the 6th and final member of their teams, and Ellie was unsurprisingly brought back as Gwen's wildcard. She exhibited a strong stage presence and raspy vocals while performing Elle King's "Ex's & Oh's", and performed well on the iTunes charts once again, but failed to score one of the two public votes and was eliminated for a second time when Gwen decided to save Korin Bukowski.
