Wé McDonald was a contestant on Season 11 of 
, and a member of Team Alicia. Her blind audition of the Nina Simone song "Feeling Good" turned all four chairs.
A season of many surprises, one of the most notable and certainly unforgettable surprises was from none other than Wé. She is best remembered for her polar opposite speaking and singing voice; while her speaking voice was very high and squeaky, her singing voice was uncharacteristically lower, electric, and vocally dynamic. While she was quick to rise into early fan-favorite status, her contrasting voices were notable for humorously leaving all the Season 11 coaches and even the guest coaches awestruck at the differences upon first listen.
After a song with her coach, a cover of Barbra Streisand's "Don't Rain On My Parade", and an original song, Wé tallied the 3rd most votes in the finale, finishing as the second runner-up of Season 11, receiving less votes than Billy Gilman and winner Sundance Head.
Before The Voice[]
"The name Wé is Kenyan for "diligence," which is something that Wé has had her entire life. Her father helped her get into vocal lessons at the Harlem School of the Arts, which she still attends after school and on weekends. Wé has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and, most recently, at the Apollo Theater. Although Wé has always found her place with music, she struggled to fit in at school. Kids teased her for her high-pitched voice and thick glasses, but she stuck it out and slowly things got better. Now she embraces her differences and is hoping her uniqueness will help her stand out on The Voice."
